Why Adopt From Us?
We truly CARE and are PASSIONATE about cats.
We foster all of our cats in loving homes, so we know the purrsonality, compatibility, likes and dislikes of each and every cat we adopt.
We are the only local cat rescue that microchips their cats. Period. Each microchip has a lifetime registration. Most chip companies charge $18+ a year to renew service. Ours is lifetime and is registered with the AAHA - American Animal Hospital Association. If you lose your cat, every veterinarian knows about it and knows where your cat belongs to ensure that he safely returns to you.
We test for 3 things before your cat is adopted: Feline FIV/AIDS, Feline Leukemia, and Heartworm. Most rescues only test for Feline Leukemia.
We stay in contact. Should you ever have any questions about your cat's feeding or potty habits, behavior, etc., we are here. It doesn't end with the adoption.
WE CARE ABOUT OUR CATS. PERIOD.

Cats of the Month
BFFs Bentley & Stripes Magee
Meet Stripes Magee and you won't forget him! Stripe is a DSH male, black and white masked tuxedo, with a white stripe down his forehead, just over a year old. He was born in foster care on April 5th, 2018 when their mom, Valerie was transported to us from a high kill shelter. He is the only cat in his litter still here. His siblings and mom were adopted long ago.
Stripe is a loving, affectionate explorer, and investigator. He likes to think of himself as somewhat of a James Bond - danger and intrigue are his game and he is often getting into things he shouldn't - all in the name of exploring. He is a quirky little guy in that he doesn't seem to understand a cat's personal space. He will bound right up to a cat and be face to face, like "HHHHHELLO!!" You can often tell where he is just by the hissing. LOL He gets along great with other cats, though. Stripe is like the Energizer Bunny - always moving, always exploring. He is into everything and follows you everywhere.
He will follow you everywhere - in and out of rooms, upstairs and downstairs. He is the new ambassador to the house. He needs to know everything! Have a plumber come in? Stripes knows all about it and will watch him as he peers under the sink. He will sit diligently beside him until he is sure the problem is fixed, and then will show him to the door and meow goodbye.
Stripes gets along with everyone (his best friend is Bentley - a fellow investigator) but, like Bentley, he always seems to be in the midst of the trouble. You hear everyone meowing? Bentley & Stripes are in the middle of it and will come tearing around the corner and will stop suddenly when they see you ....with the sweetest look of innocence. Yeah, right. Bentley and Stripes are bonded and must be adopted together. There is a discount for adopting both.
**Update April 2021**
Stripes has a girlfriend that thinks the sun truly rises and sets on him. Her name is Mama "Mia." Mia is a beautiful, quirky, and funny orange tabby cat, about 2 years old. She was dumped in a barn where coyotes frequented with her sister and litter of kittens last Thanksgiving. She is a bit of a Violet, but very friendly, silly, and pawsitive outlook, except she doesn't want to be pet. She wants to be near you and will sit a foot away from you all day long, but won't let you pet her. This should change once in a quiet home. She is super in the litter box and is good with furniture.
Stripes' habit is going to every cat room for a meal. In the evening, the geriatric and special needs cats are fed and Stripes invites himself in and sleeps overnight in the room. Mia will literally sleep outside the door all night with her paws under the door until he comes out first thing in the morning. One he comes out, they will run downstairs to play.
They are always together, grooming each other or napping together, when Stripes' best bud, Bentley isn't around.
There will be a HUGE discount if someone would like to adopt these 3 quirky cats.
Stripes' purrfect home would be an indoor only home with Bentley and his girlfriend, Mia, with cat-friendly children over the age of 7 or 8 years old or no children at all. He must be an indoor only cat. He is neutered, dewormed, had 2 distemper vaccines, a rabies vaccine, tested negative for FIV, feline leukemia, and heartworm, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
You can adopt Stripe Magee & Bentley and hopefully Mia, by going to our website at ForgottenFelinesCulpeper.org, filling out an application, and email it to .
Meet the handsome Bentley, just over a year old, handsome white and gray Agean tabby. Bentley came to us on the Freedom Ride in January 2019. We were told the vet was coming that day to euthanize the cats that other rescues had not chosen, and poor Bentley was among them. His shelter picture (below). devestated me. He looked as though he had given up any hope of ever getting out. He KNEW his fate.
He, like his best bud, Stripes, is the King of the House. He is the ladies man with swagger, the cats' meow, if you will. All the cat ladies love Bentley, as he is a groomer and a charmer...until he isn't. It is then that you will hear, "Meeeeooooowwww!" and Bentley and his partner in crime, Stripes will come roaring around the corner, with at least 3 lady cats chasing him. Bentley and Stripes are bonded and must be adopted together. There is a $20 discount for adopting both.
You are truly missing out, if you don't welcome these two into your home. You will never be bored or lonely during quarantine again! They will keep you amused and laughing.
Bentley is dewormed, neutered, received his distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, and tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. He is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
